St. Joseph's Students Battle at the Bees!

Wearing their house team colors, Jogues, Solanus and Kateri Houses battled it out for the coveted Cultural Literacy title.

On Thursday, March 5th, in honor of the Feast of St. Thomas Aquinas, our school children took part in a traditional and greatly anticipated contest.

First, the Spelling Bee was held in the morning for the 1st-4th graders.  Spellers quickly blurted out the correct spelling or agonized over each letter, holding the audience spellbound.

After lunch, the Cultural Literacy Competition was held for grades 5 - 8 and the St. Scholastica High School Co-op. The older children grouped by house teams to answer a variety of questions from subjects including Math, Science, History, Logic, and Religion.  The house team with the most points at the end of a grueling hour and a half was Kateri House! Last to take the floor was SSA with Girls vs Boys teams.  The boys gradually overtook the girls' lead to win overall.  We hope that next year the students will again bring their great memories, thinking skills, and school spirit to this event.
